Colorado gardening and landscaping takes grit…. and knowledge of our unique soils, climates, and plants. CSU Extension has been helping people grow in our great state for over 150 years. Join us online to learn from our Colorado horticulture experts through our flexible Green School program.


GREEN SCHOOL TRAINING COURSES & OPTIONS

We have a certifying FULL COURSE option and multiple SHORT COURSE options to meet anyone’s needs. Regardless of the course, you’ll receive in-depth horticulture training provided by CSU faculty, staff, and specialists.


GREEN SCHOOL FULL COURSE

Green School Full Course online classes include botany, soils, tree care, lawn care, plant diagnostics and integrated pest management, weed management, entomology, plant pathology, Colorado gardening challenges, vegetables, fruit trees, small fruits, pruning, and irrigation. In addition, CSU Extension hosts 14 online review sessions and Q&A sessions with class instructors. Green School Full Course participants successfully completing course requirements will earn a Certified Colorado Gardener certificate. Green School Full Course is also the training program for Colorado Master Gardener Volunteers. Green School Full Course is offered once per year.

Green School Short Courses are bundles of 5 self-paced, online classes. A certificate of completion will be provided to participants upon completion of all Green School Short Courses. Registration is open year-round. Students have access to course materials for one year after registration.


Considering the Colorado Master Gardener Volunteer program?

This option requires a completed application, interview, and background check in addition to training fees and a 50-hour volunteer commitment to your local county in the first year. Learn more.

The full course is comparable to a 4-credit class. In comparison, tuition for a four-credit class at CSU is $1,932.
